Halloween Express


Two Halloween shops have opened on Range Line Road.

The Spirit Halloween Superstore has opened in the former MC Sports storefront at 423 S. Range Line Road. It's just south of Books a Million. The store, which has been successful in Springfield, is making its seasonal debut in Joplin.

Halloween Express has opened near the main entrance to Northpark Mall. It has been in the same spot at the mall for the last three years.

These stores are must-see stops if you go crazy over all things Halloween because they are loaded with merchandise.

Rick Henderson, with Spirit Halloween, said the store has been going strong since it opened Sept. 2.

"We have been in Springfield the last three years and we got requests from this area to bring one down here,'' he said. "It's like a giant playground in here with a circus tent, graveyards and a zombie playground.''

Halloween Express has been open for three weeks. Bill Jones, assistant manager, said, "We have character costumes, yard and house decorations, fog machines, strobe lights and any kind of mask you could think of. We have a complete wall of makeup.''

They even have infant costumes.

Both storefronts have short-term leases that expire after Halloween. What an interesting concept for a business. You're in business for a couple of months, make a lot of money and then close up shop and wait for the next Halloween.
