My Generation

Tonight, there have been some rather interesting premieres on two of the more popular TV networks, ABC & NBC.
The TV show 'My Generation' airs on Thursday Nights at 8:00 PM EST on ABC. It originated 10 years ago when the characters in the documentary were 18 years old. Then, the class of 2000, they were asked where they thought they would be in 10 years. The show takes place in present time when the now 28 year old adults look back and reflect on what has happened in their lives for the past 10 years.
Outsourced airs on NBC at 9:30 EST on Thursday nights. It is a sit-com featuring actor Ben Rappaport who plays Todd Dempsey. The show features some predictable humor, which is typical for an 'office humor' show like this. Some people are already claiming that the show is in poor taste, while others think it is hilarious. You will have to watch it and decide for yourself.
Both shows were on tonight, and have gotten rather mixed reviews.

Outsourced Nbc, Outsourced is a series that attempts to shed light on an issue plaguing the U.S. economy as companies seek cheap labor where they can get? Although the craft a comedy series that makes light of these elements of our crippling economic downturn would be very welcome, it would be nice if this series actually turned out to be funny. Not even the talents of director Ken Kwapis, directly from behind the scenes of Dunder-Mifflin have saved the series even though it feels like Michael Scott wrote it.
The last word: NBC has outsourced call center, and simultaneously phoned in this series comedy without laughs original, intelligent and unpredictable. Do not get too caught up in this series, because if my instinct is correct, then Parks & Recreation will make an emergency return to comedy on Thursday night of Thanksgiving. If you are looking for a decent workplace comedy outsourcing, so you'll be waiting for a long period.
The laughter coming from the clash of cultures between Todd and his impatience, but improperly used as the character of Sacha Dhawan Manmeet (see it's funny because his name sounds like a synonym for the p*ni*) or the woman who whispers as Wind (Anisha Nagarajan) seem to arise because actor Ben Rappaport's so charismatic. Representation, he brings America to its Indian employees to learn is equally true that mocking. The Economic Times can rest now. The "Global Indian Takeover" is complete. American primetime television is bursting with Indians. There are more than a dozen Indian characters on evening television up from, mmmmm, we think zero five years ago.

And now there is the "Indian" TV show, "Outsourced." It is made in America, by Americans (and some British Indians) for a global audience (American sitcoms make big bucks in foreign syndication rights.)

The big deal about Outsourced is that it's not a big deal. The show, like any other, will succeed or fail on its ability to entertain. If it makes people laugh, then it will be richly rewarded. If it fails to entertain, then it will meet a quick death. Alessandra Stanley in the New York Times summed it up nicely: "The fact that it's neither embarrassing nor deeply offensive — once it gets rolling, the show is actually quite charming — is a credit to the cast and the writers."

The characters are earnest and well meaning. No one plays any of the characters in a way that offends sensibilities. There were reports that some Indian actors turned down roles because of fears of stereotyping. And there will be stereotyping but more of "The Office" sort than the racial.

Coming off a stellar six seasons of non-stop comedy at the Dunder Mifflin offices, Michael Scott (Steve Carell) will be throwing in the towel after The Office Season 7. Will the departure of Steve Carell on The Office be the end of the show, as we know it?

Of course it will, I for one will be tuning in to The Office Season 7 as a farewell to Michael Scott and The Office as a whole. There is no way that NBC will be able to deliver another Steve Carell. He is the paperweight that keeps Dunder Mifflin grounded and without him, the show will just be a big mess of nothing.

"Nepotism" we will find a new assistant around the Dunder Mifflin office. The staff hates his guts but Michael refuses to fire him.
