US Open 2010: Nadal beats Djokovic – a great and humble winner
Last night we finally saw the men's singles final from the U.S. Open 2010 tennis tournament, at Flushing Meadows New York, after it was rained off from Sunday. It wasn't all plain sailing though as there were yet more rain interruptions but every moment of inconvenience was worth it to see a classic match, that of Rafael Nadal vs Novak Djokovik.

It was Nadal who eventually became the winner and it was his first championship win at the US Open which means he has now won the full set of Grand Slam
titles, only the seventh man to ever do so. The eventual score over Djokovic was 6-4, 5-7, 6-4, 6-2 and Nadal has now won 9 Grand Slam titles in total, according to Piers Newbery over on BBC Sport.

The match itself was worthy of the championship with both men coming out all guns blazing but the dogged determination from Nadal to complete his set of Grand Slam victories was just too much in the end for Djokovic, although he was a deserved finalist after his semi-final win against Roger Federer
. There was another rain interruption lasting almost 2 hours and when play resumed Djokovic had regained some momentum but eventually faded.
