B-Schools might have more teachers than students this year

The management faculty of University of Pune (UoP) has suddenly found themselves at wits' end as very few students are opting for post-graduate courses in management studies. Barring the top few names, most management colleges are striving hard to fill up the vacant seats.

The admissions in various management institutes are done in three ways: Maharashtra centralised admission process (MH-CAP) conducted by state directorate of technical education (DTE), the common entrance test (CET) conducted by varied institutes and through the management quotas in every institute.

Statistics suggest that this is for the first time in the last 15 years when seats are going to remain vacant in these institutes.

"It is expected that almost over 40% seats in management institutes are going to remain vacant this year," said a senior UoP official who chose to remain anonymous.

On the other side, UoP is taking all necessary measures to fill up the vacant seats.

"CAP has already been conducted four times by DTE, but since many seats are still vacant, it has been decided that for the first time ever another round of CAP will be held, " S K Mahajan, Director of DTE said while talking to a correspondent.

Conducting fifth round of CAP might manage to fill up all the seats in renowned colleges [...]
