How Do I make my computer support Hibernate and Standby?

I wrote a question similar to this awhile ago, but after doing some digging, I found out that my Windows XP does not support Hibernate or Standby mode for some reason. I've tried everything. The whole shift key thing doesn't work. I tried going to the powers options, but I don't have the hibernate tab. Can someone (who actually knows what they're doing) help me? By the way, my computer is a Toshiba A105-S4221 and I'm using Windows XP
