Ganpati Bappa Moraya!

With the fervor and excitement of the Ganesh festival being just a day away, markets in the city are over flooded with thousands of varieties of items required for the decoration of Lord Ganesha and His abode in homes and in pandals. The innovative 'phetas ', lovely garlands, dainty kits and decorative lights are all proclaiming the grandeur and the glory of the world famous Ganesh Festival.

Ganpati Bappa Moraya!Oodles of people are rushing towards these markets and picking up their own best choices for decking up the idols of Lord Ganesha and doing up His earthly abode. Needless to say, like every year the Ganeshotsav is going to be synonymous to fun and frolic.

Having reached the markets, people are getting confused as to what should be bought and what not as thousands of options are literally hovering around them. Shops specializing in the attractive embellishments and pooja items are bustling with feverish activities.

Customers having their own family traditions, tastes and beliefs can be seen going for their own decorative items with an intention of customizing their holy shrines of Lord Ganesha and keeping them different from others around.

For example, Mustafa Lokhandwala's shop in Bohri Ali is famous for the set of bright white pillars used in the decoration of the mini Ganesh Mandir at home. The pillars are selling really well.

When we talked to the owner of the shop he said, "Our decorative items for Ganeshotsav begin from Rs.10 and as compared to last year, we are doing better sales this year."
