Mark Dantonio Michigan has heart attack
Michigan State coach Mark Dantonio had a heart attack Saturday night after the victory of his team's overtime against Notre Dame, the school said Sunday in a new release.
Dantonio, who was "resting comfortably" on Sunday and is expected to fully recover, was admitted to the emergency room at Sparrow Hospital and had a stent put into a blocked artery near his heart shortly after the Spartans used a bold target on the ground for false victory 34-31.
Dantonio went to the hospital shortly after making a call fat that led to one of the greatest victories of his career - and one of the signature moments of the season so far.
He decided to fake field goal that could have forced a second overtime against the Irish, choosing instead to have the holder Aaron Bates throw a pass that turned into a touchdown from 29 yards which raised the Spartans to a 34-31 victory.
